Mama Ruth
MAMA RUTH
Mornings often bring joy
But this Tuesday was not
People running about;
Containers being scraped
And so was Mama Ruth
Weeping in the roundabout!
Her tears
Her grief
How she felt
After her only hope
Was shattered
She stood there agape
As her four-years sweat
Was being carried away
That's the problem anyway
When government comes to stay!
It's been her soul for years
Her little kiosk had wiped her tears
Ruth had just made two years
And that is her most fear
Now left in shambles,who cares?
Ye mama ye Tata
She has a toddler to raise
Her only hope and praise
Shattered by a new program
Evacuation!
She's been evacuated,
Will she be..
Compensated?
Will her joy be restored?
Who will provide for little Ruth?
Will she ever be educated?
Like that Minister's daughter
Living a good life in Nakasero
Mama Ruth was treated unfairly
And nothing done barely
She remains speechless
Who, ever argues
With orders from above?
Oh Uganda
The land that feeds us
By tears and fertile poverty
Grown!
